Mindfulness Retreat Location: El Figueral
Our weekend mindfulness retreat is hosted at El Figueral an 8.8 hectares olive farm just outside the riverside village of Benifallet, Tarragona, Catalunya, Spain. The farmhouse is spacious, light, and airy with large private pool and patio areas to relax and meditate. The location is exceptionally beautiful and tranquil and with the farmhouse positioned 58m above the river Ebro its location takes full advantage of the magnificent views of the River Ebro valley and the Cardo Mountains.
This remote rural location not only offers peace and quiet but provides the ideal environment for our weekend mindfulness activities, walking, cycling, kayaking and wine tasting. The retreat is located in the middle of some of Spain’s most prestigious wine areas D.O.Q. Priorat, D.O. Montsant, D.O.Terra Alta, and D.O. Tarragona.
All meals and drinks (water, fruit juice, tea, and coffee) are inclusive. All meals are vegetarian and use the farms own organic first press extra virgin olive oil. An honesty bar is available for guests who might enjoy an alternative drink outside of the program.
Accommodation
We restrict the numbers on our weekend mindfulness group to a maximum six and provide three bedrooms to host participants
Bedrooms
Double Bedroom On-suite which can be shared occupancy or single occupancy.
This bedroom has a king-size double bed with glass bedside tables, separate chest of draws, one double wardrobe and one single wardrobe with full length mirror. The on-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet, bidet, and wash basin with lighted mirror. Toiletries, hairdryer, and towels are provided. The room is fully airconditioned, centrally heated, has window with roller shutters and Wi-Fi connection.
Twin Bedroom with On-Suite which can be shared occupancy or single occupancy.
This bedroom has two single beds divided by a single bedside table, separate chest of draws and double wardrobe with full length mirror. The on-suite bathroom has a full spa bath with shower, toilet, and wash basin with lighted mirror. Toiletries, hairdryer, and towels are provided. The room is fully airconditioned, centrally heated, has twin aspect window with roller shutters and Wi-Fi connection.
Family bedroom with adjacent shower room. The bedroom has three single bunks and a double bed.
This bedroom has a king-size double bed and three single bunk beds to maximise the room sleeping arrangements. The bunkbeds all fold up and down, so when they are not occupied, they can be folded to create a more spacious feeling to the room. The double bed has tables, and there are detachable ladders for the top bunks. There are two single wardrobes. There is no on-suite bathroom, but the family shower room is adjacent to the bedroom. It has a large shower, toilet, and basin with lighted mirror. Toiletries, hairdryer, and towels are provided. The room is fully airconditioned, centrally heated, and has a window with roller shutters and Wi-Fi connection.
General Information
The beamed kitchen area is part of the original farmhouse and used for breakfast, buffets, and refreshments. The kitchen area has a separate utility room with washing machine and dryer for use during the program. All the rooms in the communal areas open onto the patios, swimming pool and gardens and are available for use during the program and for relaxation.
A farmhouse has been on the property for approximately four hundred years, indeed the same family owned it, except for a brief period when a member of the family lost it in a game of cards. During the 1936-39 civil war the international brigade briefly occupied it as a front-line observation post during the battle of the Ebro, July – November 1938.The farmhouse has modernised and now has essentials like electricity, air conditioning and central heating for comfort throughout the year.
